About Okinawa:

Okinawa means something special to me. Having a mixed heritage of both China and Japan—being “the special one” in both places—and speaking English, sometimes I feel that Okinawa is another version of me.

I love islands. What fascinates me most is the paradox: people live on land, yet when we think of an island, we always think of the sea. Compared to the land, an island can be seen as the sea; compared to the sea, it can also be seen as land.
